Cemetery Repair Project - 2022

 
  • The Technician will perform a combination of office and field duties to facilitate the collection, dissemination and presentation of information related to Akwesasne cemeteries.

  • • Manage office: answer phones, filing, scanning, copying, order supplies

    • Update website using a content management system

    • Create and post updates and notices to social media

    • Compile basic information for inclusion in reports

    • Collect photos and marker information of cemetery headstones using a tablet provided

    • Collect latitude and longitude coordinates of headstones/gravesites on tablet and in writing

    • Gently clean the headstones only if needed

    • Research and scan obituary notices, match to gravesite database and upload

    • Organize and coordinate fall heritage fair

    • Coordinate activities with cemetery groundskeepers, contractors and vendors

    • Assist with other Kahwatsi:re projects as needed

  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Exceptional time management and organizational skills

    • Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Capable of working with minimal supervision

    • Reliable transportation and willing to use personal vehicle to get to and from cemetery sites

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and arms to feel and handle. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Able to begin by June 1, 2022 for up to 30 weeks. Compensation $20 (Canadian funds) per hour.
